Good Divorce Week: Day 5 – KIND

It’s always nice to end on a positive, particularly on a Friday! Times of great adversity demand the biggest acts of kindness. Divorce can be one of those times.

Contrary to the media portrayal of divorce, we see couples every day showing real kindness and generosity to each other. Know that divorce and kindness are not mutually exclusive. Think about the legacy from your relationship. What makes you proud? What are the good things which you can take with you on this next stage and adventure.

As far as you can, find ways to let go of the corrosive, negative emotions. It’s perfectly normal to need professional help with that. We can all help ourselves by learning new skills. Be kind to yourself, be kind to your former partner and be kind to your family. This is a transition, and it can be hard, but you will get there, and who knows what lies ahead- it’s yours for the taking.
