Getting divorced & don't know where to start?

It's one of the most common things we hear from couples who are considering divorce and who call us for the first time: we just don't know where to start. That's completely normal, and it's exactly why we're here.

What if we're not ready to make big decisions about our divorce yet?

Most couples getting divorced haven't been through it before, so in those first few weeks you don't need every answer, just the next one. A single session with a lawyer can cover the immediate questions everyone faces early on: how the legal process works, what it means for your finances in the short term, and what to say to your children's school.

You can use an Introductory Session with one of our solicitors to separate immediate questions from decisions that can wait. It gives you a roadmap; it does not commit you to the full service.

What can we expect from the £100 Introductory Session?

Beforehand you'll complete an onboarding form, so the advice you get is tailored to your situation. You each spend 45 mins individually with one of our solicitors, exploring your specific circumstances and the legal process. Afterwards, you'll have a clear roadmap for what to do next. These calls are always individual, but many couples choose to book separate calls on the same day so they can then make a joint plan to move forward

Do we have to be amicable to see a divorce lawyer together?

No. You don’t need to agree on anything, or get along well. You just both need to want a fair, joint divorce process instead of a fight. It’s common for one partner to have done all the research while the other is still unsure; this is when an impartial service like ours can really help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the £100 Introductory Session the full divorce process?

No. It is a fixed-fee starting session for immediate questions and a roadmap. You can then decide whether to return for our full service or take the next steps yourselves.

What should I ask about in the Introductory Session?

You can ask how the legal divorce process works, what separation may mean for your finances in the short term, and any pressing questions you may have about money or children. Your screening and onboarding information helps focus the session on your circumstances.

What if only one of us is ready?

You may be at different stages of readiness, and that's completely normal. At the screening stage our senior solicitors meet you both individually to ensure a joint process will work for you both.

What should I prepare before the Introductory Session?

Complete the onboarding form fully. Make a short list of the decisions or deadlines worrying you most so the session can focus on the answers you need now.
