Fixed fees, stated up front

Every service is fixed fee: the price is agreed in writing before any work starts, so the number below is what you pay — not a starting estimate that grows with hourly billing. Court fees, where they apply, are separate and stated at the relevant step. An Introductory Session starts from £500; other packages are confirmed to your exact circumstances at that session, since scope varies by complexity.

In plain terms: the £500 Introductory Session is the only price we can confirm without knowing your situation — it's designed to be booked with no commitment beyond it. Every other package above depends on complexity (number of assets, whether children's arrangements are involved, how much you already agree), so it's priced and put in writing at that first session rather than guessed at here.

Pricing questions

If we change our minds during the process and don't want to continue, what happens to any fees we have paid?

Our fees are paid stage-by-stage, which means you do not pay for stages you have not reached and can stop the process at any time. The £200 Introductory Session fee is non-refundable once used, since it covers those sessions specifically, but it's deducted from your total fee if you proceed further. There's also a 14-day cooling-off period at the start of instructing us, provided no work has been done in that window.

Is mediation cheaper than joint legal advice?

Often yes on a per-session basis, but mediation alone doesn't give you legal advice — you may still need a lawyer to make any agreement legally binding. Many couples find the combined cost of mediation plus an introductory Advice Session compares well against two separate solicitors. [TODO: confirm comparative figures with pricing team.]

Does the fixed fee include court fees?

No — court fees (such as the divorce application fee, or the fee for submitting a consent order) sit outside the fixed fee for advice and are paid separately, at the rates the court sets. [TODO: confirm current court fee figures and whether we display them, since these change independently of our pricing.]

What happens if our case turns out more complex than expected?

[TODO: confirm policy — e.g. re-scoping to a new agreed fixed fee for the added complexity, rather than open-ended hourly billing. Do not publish without confirmation from pricing team.]

How is my fixed fee worked out?

Your fee reflects the complexity of your situation, not your wealth. Our solicitors assess the nature of your financial resources, whether pension reports or business valuations are needed and the legal issues which need to be resolved in your particular circumstances. These all determine your fee, not your net worth. Two couples with very different bank balances but similarly straightforward situations will receive a similar quote.
