In March 2018 the Bar Standards Board hosted an event called: Heads Above the Parapet: How can we improve Race Equality at the Bar?
It’s a powerful document, which resonates. In it Dr Leslie Thomas QC invites participants to look at the hard facts around diversity at the Bar. He estimated that, at the current rate of change, it would take over 50 years for women to comprise half of all QCs and 100 years for the percentage of BAME silks to mirror the general population.
At a time when we are all educating ourselves about diversity and unconscious bias, this report is well worth a read.
