This Week Is Justice Week

The more you think about it, ‘justice’ is a rather inappropriate concept when it comes to two people trying to extricate themselves from an intimate relationship in a way which is fair to them both and any children they have.

Justice implies fault, that there is a winner who will be vindicated by the legal process. But for the vast majority of families, that simply isn’t the case. Which is why there have been growing calls within the profession to reflect on what we mean by Family Justice.

In fact, the Family Solutions Group (a collective of senior lawyers, judges, mediators and other professionals) have suggested we should be talking, not about Family Justice, but about Family Solutions.
