Backlog Of More Than 110,000 Cases For The Family Courts

We knew the backlog was bad… but… The Law Society has issued a press release responding to new stats published by HMCTS identifying a backlog of more than 110,000 cases for the family courts.

As the Law Society President Lubna Shuja puts it ‘The ones who are impacted by this delay the most are families up and down the country. Some are dealing with deeply distressing issues – securing a child arrangements order, seeking protection from domestic abuse and controlling behaviour, or finalising a divorce.’

Avoid court if you can. Litigating unnecessarily won’t help your family, or anyone else’s.
