Time Taken For A ‘Paper-Based’ Divorce Has Jumped To Over 15 Months

A paper-based divorce application took 66.5 weeks on average to complete in the first quarter of 2020, up from an average of 59.6 weeks in 2019. And the speed of divorce cases are expected to slow even further as the “lockdown” began to bite harder in the second quarter of the year, hampering the activity of the Family Courts.

This is despite the fact that there is now an online system, which should free up more time for dealing with paper based applications. Another reminder of the need to bring in solutions for separating families outside the Court arena.

At The Divorce Surgery, couples can access expert impartial advice and reach agreement on finances and the arrangements for their children in a process which can last as little as 6 weeks. We work to your timetable, not the Court’s.
